I arrived in Sydney in May 2023, and that same month, I discovered a newly announced policy: the Aged Care Industry Labour Agreement (ACILA).
The Aged Care Industry Labour Agreement (ACILA) is a labor agreement set up by the Australian government for the aged care sector. This agreement allows specific occupations (e.g., AIN) to work and migrate to Australia with sponsored employment.
At the aged care facility where I worked, I was the only Japanese staff member.
ACILA had only recently been introduced at the time, and I became one of the early Japanese AINs to receive sponsorship through this pathway.
There wasn’t much information available, and no clear example to follow—so I had to figure things out one step at a time.
That’s exactly why I created this guide: to share everything I learned and help others like you move forward with clarity and confidence.
